If you have begun to look in the mirror and are beginning to become concerned with the age that your face looks than you may be interested in having a facelift. A facelift is a major surgery so it is important that you know the facts and understand what you are getting into. On the reserve side facelifts are generally life changing surgeries that really do permanently change the way that people feel about themselves.

Called a rhytidectomy, a facelift is a surgical procedure which is performed to visibly improve signs of aging in the face and neck. There are lots of specific reasons why people get a facelift, here are a few.

* Sagging in the midface
* Deep creases along the nose extending to the corner of the mouth , these are often called smile lines, but they rarely make people smile.
* Fallen fatty deposits.
* Loss of muscle tone around the lower face.
* Deep creases below the lower eyelids
* Loose skin and excess fatty deposits that sit under the chin. Generally people with this problem appear to have a double chin, even though they are at a normal weight.

So are one of these people? Or perhaps you have a few of these problems. If so, you have a few facelift options. If you are in New York City you will probably have all of these options available to you. It is best to speak to a doctor before deciding completely on the right option for you, they know best.

Firstly are you a candidate? You need to be:
* You are physically healthy.
* A non-smoker.
* Have realistic goals about your appearance now and after the surgery.

Your doctor will talk to you about how they will conduct your facelift, there are few options like we talked about earlier, but the doctor is the best person to help you decide which option will suit your face and budget.
